THE COPYWRITING PROCESS

STEP 1
Are we the right fit?

Copywriting is a collaborative process. First off, we get to know each other. Who are you? Why did you start your business? Or tell me about your role? It’s important we feel comfortable working together before we get into the nitty gritty.

STEP 2
PROJECT SCOPE

Now, let’s talk about the specifics of the project. What do you need the marketing copy for –  a brochure, website, other online content – see services. Next, what size, how many pages or posts? Who is your target market?  What result are you after?

STEP 3
PROPOSAL ACCEPTANCE

Charm prepares a proposal and quote based on the specifics of your project. Then you email us your acceptance for this proposal with the understanding that if the scope changes at briefing stage, we will revise your quote. You will always sign-off on a ‘fixed-price’. This way there is no way you can go over budget on your marketing project.

STEP 4
DEPOSIT & PROJECT BOOKING

Next, we send you a deposit invoice which will be 50% of the total project fee. Once paid, we can book the initial phase of your copywriting project into our job schedule.

STEP 5
LET’S MEET – IT’S BRIEFING TIME

It’s time to meet up on skype or in person on the Gold Coast to discuss your copywriting needs in detail. It’s time for us to get to know your business and bottle your passion. Prior to the briefing, we will send you the creative brief so you know what will be covered, as this is the most important part of a successful copywriting project.

You will need to allow one hour for briefing and be prepared to be investigated. We need to know the ins and outs of your business and market to truly make your copy shine and produce the results you are after.

STEP 6
BRIEFING ACCEPTANCE

Next, we type up the brief as we understand it, send it to you for review and acceptance. It’s important that you check the brief states exactly what you want from the project. If not, then it’s time we make any adjustments until you are sure it meets your desired outcome. All of Charm Writers’ copywriting decisions and wording choices are based on a brief that is approved by you.

If the scope of the project has changed from what’s stated in the original proposal then we will revise the proposal for your approval.

STEP 7
APPOINT A LEADER

They say ‘many hands make light work’ but when it comes to copywriting projects, ‘many critics just hold up the project’. Sure get everyone’s input but have one person leading the project internally, otherwise, your great marketing project will never see the light of day.

STEP 8
PROJECT OUTLINE

An outline will roughly explain what will be covered and the tone of voice to be used. We often do this as the first draft is the most time-consuming part of any copywriting project so getting the fundamentals right, to begin with, is the smartest way to proceed. Once the outline is approved, we get busy writing your first draft.

STEP 9
PRESENT 1ST DRAFT

We know you will have revisions but hopefully, you are happy with how your project reads overall. We base our every copywriting decision on your approved brief. At this stage, you will approve or advise any revisions.

STEP 10
INVOICE PAYMENT

It is now that we invoice for final payment as the heavy lifting on the project is now complete and we have agreed the project is on track. Once we receive final payment, we can book the final phase of your copywriting project into the Charm Writers job schedule.

STEP 11
PRESENT 2ND DRAFT

We should be getting close to nailing every aspect of your brief by now. You still have another round of revisions to go or simply accept this version and I can release copyright to you.

STEP 12
FINAL REVISIONS & COPYRIGHT RELEASE

Calling for final tweaks and proofreading. You produce us with your last revisions and then we do our final proofread. Once you are completely happy with the copy, simply email us your final approval then Charm Writers will release the copyright for use by your business.
